Case Study: The View at Chastain

The Client

2005 welcomed The View at Chastain condominiums to the Buckhead district in Atlanta. This 125-unit luxury building sits in the heart of the East Chastain neighborhood, steps from stunning Chastain Park.

Residents of The View at Chastain can enjoy the numerous amenities of the park, which include a swimming pool, walking trails, a golf course, a horse park, an arts center, and an amphitheater, among many more perks. Buckhead is also home to some of Atlanta’s best shopping, dining, and entertainment — so residing at The View at Chastain is an attractive offer, indeed.

The Homeowner’s Association of this 10-story high-rise wanted to remodel the building to reflect current design trends and adopt a sleek aesthetic, so they hired a top interior designer to remodel the common areas on each floor. In keeping with the new look, the property manager updated all signage in the building.

The Problem

As The View at Chastain underwent a facelift, they knew they needed to update signage throughout the building to complement their new design. Updated paint, carpeting, and wall coverings provided an opportunity for sleek new signage. However, they knew they would need a trusted partner to help them select the right materials and designs for this expansive project — over 300 signs.

The property manager for The View at Chastain had worked with Optima Signs & Graphics in the past, and he knew they’d be well-equipped for a job of this scope and size. He reached out to set up a collaborative on-site meeting between Optima, building management, and the interior designer. From there, creative ideas for condominium signs started to flow.

The Solution

The Optima Signs team walked the property to determine the types of signs needed and confirm a location for each, while also seeing the design changes in the building itself. Next, they suggested signage solutions that featured color combinations and long-lasting materials that complimented the new decor.

After confirming the client’s style and color choices, Optima created mockups for each type of sign, following ADA guidelines for signs while staying true to The View at Chastain’s branding. To ensure that the interior design team and property manager would love the final product, they provided color samples from the sign fabricator to give the entire team a sneak peek at the actual product.

With a complete proposal in hand, the property manager presented the estimate and designs to the HOA. They loved the initial proposal and asked for even more signage solutions from Optima. Finally, after those additions, it was time to begin sign creation.

Optima’s carefully executed process includes:

  • An initial design proposal and estimate
  • Revisions, if needed
  • Production proofs for client approval
  • Sign creation
  • Sign installation

Normally, this type of sign project can take anywhere from three months to a year. In working with a local sign expert, the team at The View at Chastain was able to take the needed time to work through sign additions and revisions, ensuring their satisfaction with the final installation.

The Results

In June of 2024, the Optima Signs & Graphics team installed over 300 signs at The View at Chastain. Each sign is multilayered, with a brushed aluminum laminate base that catches the eye with its subtle sheen. The top layer features a China Blue shade that complements the interior design updates. Copy for each sign offers bright white tactile lettering and clear braille beads.

They installed hundreds of new signs across all 10 floors of the building, including:

  • Individual unit numbers
  • Emergency evacuation plans
  • Stairwell signs
  • Other miscellaneous directional and informational signs

Each of these new signage solutions captures the attention of residents and guests alike, providing essential information while staying in line with the cool-toned, calming design selections. This project is proof that design details matter — the overall appeal of the hallways and common areas was greatly improved through the collaboration of interior designers and signage professionals.
